About the Card

1990 Pro Set Football is notorious for the number of errors it produced, and different misprints and incorrect stats of all kinds. The greatest QB to ever play the game wasn’t safe in the set either, but the Joe Montana error actually has more to do with another famous QB, Jim Kelly. That is, on the back of Joe Montana’s card, an incorrect statement reads that Montana beat out other deserving finalists for NFL Player of the Year, including Kelly who had thrown for 3,521 yards (which is actually the number of yards Montana had thrown for). Kelly only threw for 3,130 yards, which is reflected in the corrected version of the card.

“With over 500 errors to its name, 1990 Pro Set Series II Football is a glorious mess, the kind that can provide hours of box-breaking entertainment.”
