Incredibly, Shohei Ohtani is not on the 2024 Topps Series 1 checklist. But while some have mentioned this to be normal operation for big name free agents without a team, others might have felt something else was brewing.
Well, it turns out that Shohei Ohtani does in fact have a “base card” in 2024 Topps Series 1, but it’s not one that people were expecting. Meaning, there is a super rare image variation of Shohei Ohtani wearing his Dodgers uniform.

If you are ripping any 2024 Topps Series 1, MAKE SURE to keep an eye out for this card & the Juan Soto Yankees card, which are both VERY rare & easily mistakable for normal base cards!

While many are eager to know the values of such cards, there haven’t been any that have been sold. That said, I’m going to guess they will be among the most valuable cards from 2024 Topps S1. In fact, the first Ohtani just hit the active eBay listings with a “Buy It Now” price of $7,500. A Soto has also yet to sell, but one is listed at a whopping $19,999 (and has 96 watchers). I think it’s safe to assume the Ohtani will outsell the Soto, but at what price, we just don’t know yet.
