Why these? Well let’s face it—any Downtown card is desirable because they are relatively rare and the checklist is small. Besides that, remember the things that make a card valuable. We have rarity (as discussed), and with hot football cards, quarterbacks rule, which is exactly what we are seeing on this list. Add in that some of these are rookie cards (like Brock Purdy), and you have the perfect combination for a valuable.

Interestingly, these are all current players as well, with the exception of Brady (who isn’t that far removed, and let’s be honest, can probably come back into the league any day now!). Peyton Manning is at #60 (2022 Donruss #SBD-PM Downtown Super Bowl), Joe Montana at #78 (2019 Optic #DT-14 Downtown), and Ray Lewis is at #84 (2022 Donruss #SBD-RL Downtown Super Bowl). Even Santa comes in stronger (yes, Santa!):

Which of these are less valuable? Looking at the bottom of the longer list, we can see commonalities on the other end of the spectrum: mostly position players and “draft picks” versions:

  • Laviska Shenault Jr. 2020 Chronicles Draft Picks #D12 Downtown (SSP) Raw $41
  • Henry Ruggs III 2020 Chronicles Draft Picks #D17 Downtown (SSP) Raw $45
